Our 5 Campaign Priorities

Since January 2020 our campaign has worked to develop priorities that can guide the future of juvenile justice in Illinois. Working as a team of advocates, system-impacted young people, and organizers we’ve compiled a list of five priorities based on decades of qualitative and quantitative data.

Community + DJJ Convenings

Starting in September 2018, we’ve led Community Convenings in Illinois districts that send the most young people to state youth prisons. We’ve also led Department of Juvenile Justice Convenings for our forthcoming “Inside Report” gathering data on the conditions youth live under while incarcerated.

YOUTH COHORT

Starting in May 2020, the F5C worked with a small group of young people to develop our strategy, our demands, and our resources. Our members of our Youth Cohort worked on one or multiple projects, including: Curriculum Development, Community Convenings, DJJ Convenings, Social Media, Campaign Strategy and Storytelling.
